AURORA WOLVES TURNS "1"

Months before the Wolves ever set foot on the field February 2024, there was a ton of work going on behind the scenes to make the Aurora Wolves Rugby Union a reality. A special thank you to BC Rugby for granting us the opportunity to compete and supporting us along side the other regions who lent support as well as players.

We’re thrilled to celebrate our first anniversary! A massive thank you to coaches, players, volunteers, parents - the list goes on, who contributed to an incredible inaugural year. We had representation from clubs across the north; we've introduced many athletes to BC rugby pathways and made sure everyone heard the HOWL OF THE NORTH!

AWRU President Honoured

Aurora Wolves President and founder Katie Gordon was honoured by Sport BC for her dedication to growing the sport of rugby in Northern BC.

Katie co-founded the 1697s Rugby Club in 2019, coached College Heights Secondary Rugby since 2021, coached the 2024 Zone 8 BC Summer Games team, created pathways for Northern athletes to compete, traveled to Northern communities to train and ID athletes and even delivered introductions to rugby for high school and elementary school PE classes.

In their first year in existence, Katie was instrumental in putting players on the field for the first time representing the North at the Vancouver Sevens Invitational tournament and Provincial Regional Championships.

Through her involvement at every level of the sport, she has worked to provide an inclusive environment for coaches, players, volunteers and parents from across Northern BC.

Congratulations Katie!
